SBBD is the official database event of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). It is the largest venue in Latin America for presenting and discussing research results in the database domain. In its 30th edition, the symposium will be held in Itaipava, Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, on October 13th-16th , 2015. This year SBBD is organized by two academic institutions: The National Laboratory of Scientific Computing (LNCC) and the Federal Center of Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (CEFET-RJ).
SBBD brings together researchers, students and practitioners, from Brazil and abroad, to discuss problems related to the main topics in modern database technologies. SBBD usually gathers around 500 attendees. Past editions of SBBD have been organized in cooperation with ACM/SIGMOD and partially sponsored by the VLDB Endownment. Along with technical sessions, the symposium also includes invited talks and tutorials given by distinguished speakers from the international research community. SBBD also promotes a Thesis Workshop, a Demos Session and a Poster Session as co-located events. This year SBBD is co-located with the Symposium on Knowledge Discovery, Mining and Learning (KDMILE) creating an environment for exchanging experiences between these related areas.
Continuing the tradition of previous editions, the SBBD comprises a broad technical program, including: technical sessions, keynotes, tutorials, and short-courses. Additionally, the program shall include A Workshop of Theses and Dissertations in Databases (WTDBD) , a Demo Session and a Poster session.
