The I Data Encounter Science & Big Data UFPR is a scientific event that seeks to bring together students, alumni and professors from the Data Science and Big Data Specialization Program (DSBD - UFPR) on contemporary issues that make up the multidisciplinary theme of Science of Data. . In 2019, we will have its first edition, which will be held on June 28, at the premises of the Department of Accuracy of UFPR.

The event is open and free for all the community of Curitiba and region and will have plenary sessions of Prof. Dr. Francisco Louzada Neto (ICMC-USP) and Researcher Dr. Artur Ziviani (LNCC). In addition to the conferences, we will have mini-conferences and case studies presented by companies and consultants in the area. The closing of the event will be with a roundtable and poster presentations of the monographs of the graduates of the DSBD 2018-2019 class.

Artur Ziviani

Bio

Artur Ziviani is a Senior Researcher at the Data Extreme Lab (DEXL) of the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC), a research unit of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Communications (MCTIC) located in Petrópolis, Brazil. Since 2019, he is the Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Graduate Program on Computational Modeling at LNCC (MSc and PhD). In 2003, he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the LIP6 laboratory of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6) - Sorbonne Universités, Paris, France, where he has also been a lecturer during the 2003-2004 academic year. He received a B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering in 1998 and a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering (emphasis in Computer Networking) in 1999, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. From September 2008 to January 2009, he was a visiting researcher at INRIA in France. His current research interests include network characterization, modeling, and analysis; data science, network science; and interdisciplinary data science research with a networking approach. He is a Member of SBC (the Brazilian Computer Society), an Affiliated Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2013-2017), and a Senior Member of both IEEE and ACM.
